Content Needed for Website
General notes
1. This is a list of the content we need to put in place before the website is launched. As the missing content is provided and added to the website, it will be removed from the list so you can always check here to get an up-to-date picture of where we're at. Please refresh the page when you revisit.
2. The list is organized by the main areas of the website (Home, About Us, People etc.). Within each area the pages on the website are indicated in an /x/y format, e.g., /Seniors/Commencement in the Undergrad area refers to the Commencement page which is nested under the Seniors page. To navigate to any page in the website travel to an area by clicking on the main area in the navigation bar at the top of the page. Links to all of the pages in that area can then be seen in the navigation bar in the right hand column which serves as a table of contents for the area.
3. “Content” generally means text that will be presented on a page. We do not want to have a lot of pages that have very little content (one of the problems with the current site). Content does not mean nothing but a link to another page or a website. Many pages will and should contain links but pages shouldn’t be nothing but a link to somewhere else.
4. Content can always be enhanced and improved. It’s much more important that we have something there than that what we have is perfect. If you can supply some of the missing content, please take the time to do so. If it isn’t perfect we can improve on it later.
5. A lot of content has been migrated from the current site to the new site. If there is content on the current site that fills some of the holes on the new site, please point it out to me. Send me the url where the info resides on the current site and the location you think it should go on the new site.
6. We are more than a collection of people who do research. We would very much like the News section of the site to reflect this by being more than a list of academic accomplishments. Achievements, events and happy occurrences outside of the academic world make for great News entries. Things like births (just become a grandparent?), marriages, significant anniversaries, showing your work in an art or craft show, competing in an organized athletic event, participating in a fund raising event such as the annual breast-cancer walk, winning a prize in anything, taking a trip to someplace special are all terrific things to list as News.7. Please send all info to kmurnane@umd.edu.

a. The name of the lab
b. The PI’s name
c. Lab address
d. Contact info (email, phone etc.)
e. Lab url if there is one
f. Brief (one short paragraph) description of the kind of research carried on in the lab.
I urge everyone to submit this info. If your lab doesn’t have a name, make one up. On the current website there are only 5 labs listed. If we simply migrate that wee list to the new site without any additions it makes us look like a dead department.
