Reception honoring Department graduates and their families. Will begin at end of graduation ceremonies
Welcome to the Psychology Department!
In order to make your transition easier, the Graduate Office has
consolidated information provided by the Psychology Graduate students
(with particular thanks to Elizabeth Reynolds and the Clinical students) have put together a Survival Guide to help you maneuver through some of the transitions you will be making. If you take a few minutes to read through this document, I guarantee that you will find some useful information.
Moving to a new place can seem overwhelming. What kinds of housing are there? How much does it cost? There is an exceptional diversity of neighborhoods around the University of Maryland which lies inside the Washington DC beltway. Where do you want to live? The Survival Guide can help with all of that. You’ll find maps and descriptions of the many towns surrounding College Park and the various areas within DC all informed by a graduate student’s point of view.
But it’s not all about where to live. The Survival Guide also has information about financial aid, exercise opportunities and health insurance, local means of transportation, student nuts and bolts like how to register or where to get books and your student ID. The Psychology Department has a first rate staff that will help you every step of the way as you negotiate graduate school. The Survival Guide tells you who they are, where you can find them and what they can do for you.
And there’s more. A guide to the University of Maryland campus, shopping tips, where to find art, sports and nightlife and useful tips like
It’s all good. Check it out.
